The bright f/2.8 maximum aperture, flattering 100mm perspective, and nine-blade circular diaphragm also make the lens an outstanding choice for portraits. Canon’s innovative Spherical Aberration Control Ring allows photographers to adjust the appearance of foreground and background bokeh while introducing a controlled soft-focus effect for distinctive portrait and still-life imagery.

Hybrid Optical Image Stabilisation provides up to five stops of shake correction and up to eight stops of coordinated stabilisation when paired with selected Canon EOS R cameras featuring In-Body Image Stabilisation.
