The Sony FE 85mm f/1.8 is a compact full-frame medium-telephoto prime lens designed for portrait, wedding, event, fashion, lifestyle, street, and low-light photography. Its classic 85mm perspective delivers flattering facial proportions and natural background compression, while the bright f/1.8 maximum aperture provides excellent subject separation and creative control over depth of field.

A precision optical design with one Extra-Low Dispersion element helps reduce colour fringing and chromatic aberration while maintaining strong sharpness across the frame. The nine-blade circular aperture produces smooth, rounded bokeh highlights, making the lens particularly effective for portraits and detail-focused compositions with soft, uncluttered backgrounds.

Sony’s double linear motor system delivers fast, accurate, and quiet autofocus for both photography and video. A customisable focus-hold button, dedicated AF/MF switch, responsive manual-focus ring, dust- and moisture-resistant construction, and lightweight 371g body make this an excellent everyday portrait lens for Sony Alpha creators.
